Reasons why your dog might need pajamas

You might be surprised at how many reasons there are for letting your dog wear pajamas.

What are dog pajamas?

Are you aware of dog pajamas? Not everyone is; even dog parents.  They're dog clothes that have "sleeves" for all four legs. They are often one piece that you slide over the head.  Then you put each of the legs in a hole and there you go.  Sometimes, they open down the back and close with a zipper, velcro-like hook and loop, or some other device.  But they all cover the legs.

Larger dogs like this boxer or even Great Danes can benefit from pajamas, although it can be difficult to find them to fit. Custom pjs from Made by De can fit any dog.

Why would a dog need pajamas?

Good question. Dogs can need clothes with legs in them for several reasons;

-  Extra warmth that's provided by covering the legs as well as the body.

-  Pajamas stay in place better than coats sometimes do, especially when layered under coats.

-  A dog might prefer pajamas to other types of outfits for staying warm since they are soft and supple.

-  Keeping snowballs out of the fur of long-haired dogs by containing fur.

Breeds that usually tolerate cold weather well can need pajamas if they are elderly or in poor health.

What types of dogs need pajamas?

Not all dogs need pajamas, so how do you know if your dog does? If your dog is

  • Smooth-coated, they might have a difficult time in cold weather, so pajamas can help.

  • Elderly, he or she might need the extra warmth so their bodies can maintain top condition.

  • Suffering from a health condition, they may need to conserve energy by wearing pajamas to stay warm.

  • Shivering and doesn’t want to go outside, a little extra help can make the difference.
