Dog diapers. Does your dog need them?

Dog Diapers are sometimes a necessary evil if you have a female dog that is intact or a dog that’s incontinent, either male or female.

Dog diapers aren't very exciting, but they are necessary sometimes.

Does your dog need a dog diaper?  If you have an intact (not spayed) girl dog or maybe an older dog that can't control bowels or bladder, your dog might need a dog diaper.  If not, this post is probably not for you.  At least not now.

As long as dogs have been allowed in the house, some form of dog diaper or dog britches has been used.  The reason is simple; who want bodily fluids all over the house?  Even though your dog can't help it, they will make a mess when they are incontinent or "in season" if you don't do something.

So, your dog needs a dog diaper.

You'll find all kinds of dog diapers online or in pet stores.  But they are all made differently from a wide variety of fabrics.  And each style fits a dog a bit differently.  If you and your dog are going to tolerate diapers, it's going to be really important to get some that your dog won't mind wearing.  

Let's be honest; if your dog doesn't like the britches, they will get them off and probably ruin them in one way or another.  Dogs can be resourceful like that.

It may take a little experimentation and talking to other dog people to find what works best for your dog.  The way you can tell if you have found diapers that fit is to watch how your dog moves with them on.  Do they walk funny or refuse to walk at all. Maybe they stand with their behinds tucked or otherwise in an unusual position.

If you see any of this, the diaper probably doesn't fit right.
